Blades for multi-stage high-pressure steam or gas turbines have such velocities and angles that the ratio Dxn/a<1> + a<2> does not exceed 30,000, where D denotes the admission diameter in millimetres, n the number of revolutions per minute and a<1> and a<2> the inlet and outlet angles of the blades in degrees. Surging shocks in the blade passages are stated to be reduced by the invention tu a minimum.
