Abstract

An attachment (20) for a tractor comprises a frame (22) which supports a grader blade (24), the frame has connection points (26, 28) which can be used to connect it to the chassis of a tractor when a bucket loader has been removed. <IMAGE>

Description

AITACEEiT FOR A TRAC?YIR FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to an attachment for a tractor backhoe loader.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION There are many occasions where a small grader is useful but to the Applicant's knowledge the only one available is a specialist item for one job, namely grading of farm and other roads.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a far more versatile item of equipment which useful in many situations.
THE INVENTION According to the invention an attachment for a tractor (and preferably a tractor backhoe loader) comprises a grader blade mounted on a frame which is adapted to be located on the same connections as a loader.
Thus, the loader may be removed by disconnection from the chassis and the grader attachment located in its place. This will result In an item of equipment which will be of great use to contractors, for example, and particularly contractors for maintainance of farm roads or gravel roads or other surfaces where a small grader would be more viable due to cost and size. A backhoe would be an additional advantage so that there would be no need of an additional item of equipment to dig run-offs, trenches and the like.
The invention is particularly concerned with a tractor backhoe loader which can have a standard four wheel drive.
EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a side view of a backhoe loader fitted with a front end loader showing the grading attachment of the invention in dotted line in the position it will take when the loader is removed; and Figure 2 is aside view of the attachment.
In Figure is-aloader 10 is shown with having a tractor backhoe grader 12 and bucket loader 14. A backhoe 34 is attached to the rear of the cab of the tractor.
An attachment 20 is shown in Figure 2 which comprises a frame 22, with a grader blade 24, spaces 26,28 for front and rear axles and orifices 30,32 for receiving bolts for connection to the chassis. These are the same connections as for the bucket loader 14 as will be seen in Figure 1, where the grader attachment 20 is shown in broken lines. The same hydraulic connections may be used for the grader.
Thus the item of equipment may be used as a loader, or as a tractor backhoe loader, or as a tractor backhoe grader; or simply as a tractor.

Claims (2)

CLAIMS:
1.
An attachment for a tractor including a grader blade mounted on a frame which is adapted to be located on the connections as a bucket loader, when the latter is disconnected.
2. A tractor loader/backhoe substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

The attachment according to claim 1 substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

An item of equipment including a tractor having alternative front units of a loader and a grader.
4.
The item of equipment according to claim 3 in which a backhoe is also provided.

An item of equipment substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Americknents to the dawns have been fled as folows 1. A tractor loader/backhoe including a frame which is adapted to be located on the same mechanical and hydraulic connections as a bucket loader, when the latter is disconnected, the frame comprising a grader blade and means for supporting a front axle in front of the grader blade.
