Abstract
225,234. Compagnie GÚnÚrale de TÚlÚgraphie Sans Fils. Nov. 21, 1923, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-A piece of magnesium, calcium, or zinc is attached to an electrode, such as the anode, and the bulb is exhausted and sealed, and the electrode heated by electron bombardment so as to flash the magnesium &c., which is deposited on the bulb and produces a high vacuum. The bombardment process may be short. A resistance may be connected in the high-tension circuit so as to protect the cathode during the flashing process, or several valves may be connected in series. It is suggested that magnesium &c. vapour may affect the surface of the cathode. The cathode may consist of tungsten, platinum, osmium, or tantalum, with or without thorium, uranium, cerium, zirconium, or yttrium, or their compounds ; or thorium alone may be used. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 225,926.
