224,612. Dreier, F. C. Aug. 18, 1923. Latches, sliding.-In a device for securing the sash of a railway carriage or other vehicle in any desired position in which a pair of sliding spring- pressed catches c<1>, having projections c<2> whereby they may be operated by the thumb and finger, are mounted on the sash so as to engage buttresstoothed racks a on the window frame, each catch c<1> is mounted in a pair of guides b<1>, b<2> and is provided with a, collar d<1>, which serves as an abutment for one end of the spring d<2>, the other end of which bears against one end of the guide b<2>. Each rack has a stop a<1> at its lower extremity and the device may be protected by a dust-cover e.
