Description

CUTTING APPARATUS FOR ROLLS OF ADHESIVE TAPE The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting an adhesive roll tape successively at regular length for attaching the cut pieces of the tape to the overlapping edges of the wrapping paper at a department store and the like.
In general, adhesive tapes for sticking to the overlapping edge of the wrapping paper to prevent the unwrapping of the packing paper are well known. Por this purpose, many types of adhesive tapes have been provided for example, a roll type tape and a tape having a plunality of adhesive tape pieces of regular length sticked to one side face of a paper. However, in case of the former, an user should tear one end of the tape, pull in desired length to cut the length along a cutting blade mounted to the peripheral edge of the tape. Therefore, the cut pieces of the tape may have different length and their form one ancther and thus causing the appearance of the package to be damaged. In addition, each cutting manipulation is cumbersome and it may need extra supporters in case of more speed wrapping to be required as in the department store and the like.
In case of the latter, each tearing requires a subsrantial time and manufacturing cost is relatively high because an extra paper other than the adhesive tape must also be manufactured. Further, in recent an apperatus for cutting a roll adhesive tape by use of a pter-actuated cutter have been developed. however, this type roll tape needs a motor, thus causing the construction to be relatively complicated. Consequently, a supply price is high, extra cost for operation is needed arc r.ore spate is required for storage.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide an adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus with a cutting means which is manipulated free, srply ant manually and of relatively small size and produces a desired uniform length of the cut piece of the tape, whereby the package has a good appearance due to unitornly cut tape pieces.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, we have invented an adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus which comprises a base, a wheel for receiving a roll tape, a rotatable roller for drawing an end of the adhesive tape, an adhesive piece connected to end of an arm of the rotatable roller on its peripheral edge, to which the adhesive tape is attached, a pressing means for attaching the adhesive tape to the adhesive piece and a cutting roller having a cutting blade. If a rotatable knob coaxially connected to the rotatable roller is rotated, then the aoesive piece cf the .. also is rotated to draw the adhesive tape fro t wheel and the cutting blade of the cutting roller can cut the adhesive tape in a desired length.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention shall be made clear in following description of the invention detailed with reference to embodiments of the invention as shown in accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described in greater detail with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein several preferred embodiments of the resent invention are set forth.
Referring first to FIg. 1 of the drawings, there is shown a perspective view a basic embodiment of an adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus according to the present invention, numeral 1 is a base consisted of a pair of base members 1a and 1b and a connecting rod 2 inserted into holes formed in base members. base members1aero' or on their upper sides are provided with support plates 3 and 3a opposite to each center. the base member 1b hazing the support plate 3a on its upper side is crovided with a protrusion; 4 and a support plate 5.Two inclined opening slots 6 and 6a are formed in rear portion of support plates 3 and 3a and support plates 5 and 3a have upwardly opening slots 6 and 6c, respectively.
Between support plates 3 and 3a, a rotatable roller 7 mounted on front, upper side of support plates, a pressing means 8 mounted on rear part of the rotatable roller 7 and a cutting roller 9 mounted below the pressing means 8 are provided. The rotatable roller 7 as shown in Fig.4, comprises a plurality of arms 7a formed circumferentially on the roller having an adhesive protion 7b which includes shorter length of adhesive faces 7c, longer length of adhesive faces 7d, which the are Iternativl provided each other, cutting grooves 7e ano a hole 7f in the center tnereof.
The pressing means 8 is similar to a roller shape, but it may has resilient portion 8a and square protrusions 8b on opposite sides thereof. In addition, the cutting roller 9 has "+"shaped circumferential connecting piece 9a to which cutting blades 9b are fixed. The roller 7 may fabricated in a manner that a rod 1Oa integrally formed with a drive gear 10 is inserted into the hole 7f, as shown in Fig.5 and then the roller 7 is mounted bet:.een support plates 3 and 3a by inserting a protrusion of the roller 7 into a hole in the plate 3a. A rotatable knob 11 is fixed to a center hole 1Ob of the drive gear 10 by a bolt 12 which inserted into a hole of the support plate 3 through a center hole of the rotatable knob to rotate the roller 7 when the rotatable knob 11 is rotated. The pressing means 8 may fabricated such that the square protrusions 8b extending therefrom are fixed to corresponding square holes of support plates 3 and 3a. In addition, the cutting roller 9 is mounted between support plates 3 and 3a by a rotatable shaft 13. The rotatable shaft 13 on the peripheral edge is provided with a follower gear 14 and the drive gear 10. With this arrangement, the manual rotation of the rotatable knob 11 will cause the rotation of the follower gear 14 by the rotation force of the drive gear 10.
Two inclined opening slots 6 and 6a on the rear end of support plates 3 and 3a receive removably 2 wheel 16 to which two sets of the roll tapes T1 are mounted and two upwardly opening slots 6b and 6c receive removably a wheel 16a to which a roll tape T2 is mounted. Finally, a blade 17 for cutting the roll tape T2 is mounted on the protrusion 4 of the base member ib.
In the above-r:entioned embodiment of the present invention, as shown in to FIg.2, if the roll tape T1 is passed over the pressing means & with the adhesive face facing upwardly, the env of the roll tape I attached te the adhesive portion 7 of the arms. 7a while being resiliently pressed by the resilient portion 8a and the rotatable knob 11 is rotated in a clockwise direction by an operator, then two sets of the roll tape T1 are attached to longer and shorter adhesive faces 7c and 7d of the adhesive portion 7b by the resilient force of the resilient portion oa ant moved in the rotating direction of the arm Ta. Therefore, two sets of the roll tape T1 will untie their length corresponding to the moved length by the arm 7a. During this operation if the follower gear 14 under the rotating force of the drive gear 10 is rotated in the clockwise direction, then the cutting roller 9 is rotated in the say direction and the cutting blade 9b of the connecting piece 9a is inserted into the cutting groove 7e provided between adhesive faces 7c and 7d to cut two sets of the roll tape T1. Consequently, a cut of the roll tape T1 is attached to each middle portion between the longer and shorter adhesive portions 7b of the roller 7, thus the longer tape cut piece or the shorter tape cut piece is optionally detached from the adhesive faces 7e and 7d and attached to a joint of a wrapping paper. In addition, as shown in Fig.1, one end of the roll tape T2 is drawn and pressed to the blade 17, thereby a desired length of the roll tape T2 is obtained.
v.-t.. the present arrangement, if the rotatable knob 11 is rotated, then the roll tape T1 is continuously and regularly cut in the extent of the length of the gap between the adhesive portions 7b of the roller 7, whereby a package havIng the cut pieces attached thereon has a good appearance as ccmp2rez with the prior art, due to uniformly cut tape pieces.
Furthermore, this cutting is easily accomplished only by a simple operation of the rotatable knob 11. With the adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus of the present invention, a lot of goods are wrapped at one time. Further, there is little possibility that the adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus according to the present invention is out of order, thus lengthening the lifetime thereof and the operation of the adhesive roll tape cutting apparatus according to th-e invention costs comparatively less than that of the power actuated conventional tape cutting device and the-minimum space is only required for keeping of the apparatus according to the present invention.
In the embodiment having the adhesive portion 7b of the roller 7 including the wider adhesive face 7e and the narrower adhesive face 7d, the wider adhesive face 7e facilitates sticking of the roll tape T1 thereon while the narrower adhesive face 7d facilitates removing of the cut pieces cut by the blade 9b of the cutting roller 9 therefrom.
Fig.6 shows perspective view another embodiment of the rotatable knob 11 actuated in the manner that the drive gear 10 and the rotatable knob 11 integrally formed with the rotatable roller 7 are fabricated coaxially each other to rotate the rotatable roller 7 when the rotatable knob 11 is rotated and shows a rotatable render 72 comprising a rotatable shaft 70 and radially extending protrusions 7 ntntet' on the circumference thereof, usable instead of the rotatable knob 11.
Fig.7 is a perspective view showing another embodiment of the rotatable roller 7 shown in Figs.1 and L . As shown in Fig.8, concave - convex faces 68 are provided cn the adhesive face 7d of the roller 7 to f--- - a e easy detachment of cut pieces cf the roll tape.
Fig.9 is another embodiment of the rotatable roller shown in Fig.1 wherein a circular rib 67 having "L"-shaped supports 66 is concentrically located from the central shaft 18. However, an arm 7a of the respective adhesive portions 7b is shorter than that of the first embodiment and is radially extended in the same space each other.
This arrangement is different from the rotatable roller 7 shown in F.igs.1, 4 and 7, since when the rotatable roller 7 is molded by injection, the weight of adhesive portions 7b provided on the cnds of arms 7a prevents arms 7a from-bending, thus preventing ununiform cutting grooves 7e and allowing adhesive portions 7b to be mounted in more suitable position.
Fig.11 is another embodiment of the rotatable roller 7 wherein an adhesive member 20 comprising a wider adhesive face 7c, a narrower adhesive face 7d and a middle cutting groove 7e formed between the wider and narrower faces is bolted to the peripheral edge of a roller 19 by a bolt 21 as shown in Fig.12, thus it facilitates the fabrication of the assembly.
