Abstract
The device is formed of two parts or pieces (1) and (2) joined together, forming a hollow and elastic body inside of which there is a chamber which in its deformation and restoration of its original shape acts as a pad or dampening element. The device is provided for its use in athletic shoes and preferably in the area corresponding to the heel, effecting the use in an integral manner or by injection upon the sole itself of the shoe. The pad or dampener which forms the device, acts as a means to absorb the strong pressures caused by the wearer's running and/or jumping. <IMAGE>
Description
1 - 1 DAMPENING DEVICE FOR SHOES OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present inventi.on, as is expressed in the title-.' of this specification, refers to a dampening device for_ shoes, which is preferably mounted in the middle area of the heel to-form an impact dampening means or knock absorbing means.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The dampening device of the invention-is a-hollow body which functions as a pad, and in its application to the' heel of a shoe, absorbs the strong pressures produced when the wearer practices athletics or similar exercises.
Therefore, the dampening device is basically applicable to athletic shoes and the hollow-body which forms it con- is sists of two pieces joined together, forming between them an air chamber which acts as a dampening means, whose chamber can optionally include any other'type of fluid or element to strengthen, if necessary, its dampenirrg -or-.knock'absorbing effect.
In its application to the heel of the shoe, this is done integrally or it is injected to the sole of the shoe- Structurally, one of the pieces has a cup-type shape with an edge that fits in a recess foreseen in the other piece which is substantially flat and has a projection in 25its surface opposite the one of the coupling with the other piece, a projection which projects with regard to the plane that forms the surface of the sole to which it is applied.
In order to complement the description that is made hereinafter and for the purpose of providing a better understanding of the features of the invention., the present specification is accompanied by a set of drawings on the basis of whose figures nne will more easily understand the features and advantages of the dampening device of theinvention.
1 c BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
Figure 1. It shows a plan view of the dampening device-itself.
Figure 2. It shows a sectional view of this same dampening device, showing-the coupling between the two parts that the same consists of.
Figure 3. It shows a plan view of one portion of a shoe with the dampening device applied to the heel area of the -same- Figure 4. -It shows a raised-side-view, according to the section, of a shoe incorporating the device represented in the above- figures.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
In view of the figures, one can see how.the dampening device of the invention is formed by a hollow body (1) f-orm.- ed by two pieces coupled together, one of them, reference 2, has a cup--type shape with a-small perimetric edge that constitutes the coupling means with the other-piece, 3, which is notably flat and has a perimetric flange (4) in which a type of oblique groove, 5, is formed, in which precisely the perimetric edge of piece, 2, is housed and retained, thus, pieces (2) and (3) remain perfectly coupled together forming a sole hollow body, whose inside is liable to incorporate any other fluid that is not---airin accordance with the degree of dampening that is sought.
In any case, the hollow body constitutes a type of pad or air bubble that is mounted on a sole (6) of a shoe, preferably in the heel itself, which will be provided with a cavity where precisely body (1) is housed, this body being totally integrated or injected in that part of the sole (6) of the shoe, in such a way that edge (7) provided in the outer surface of piece (3) remains projecting with regard to the bottom plane of sole 6.
Finally, it should be said that the sole (6) on which the body (1) of the dampening device is applied, will be t 3 - preferably rubber or PVC and will preferably be athletic shoes, with the particular feature that this hollow element or pad that-constitutes the body (1) will form a dampening. means or knock absorbing element, absorbing the strong. pressures that are caused when the wearer-of the shoe-in" cluding the same walks or runs.

Claims (7)
1. Dampening device for shoes, which is foreseen to.be integrated or injected in the corresponding sole (6) of a conventional shoe, preferably an athletic shoe, and--with this sole made out of rubber or PVC, essentially. characterized because it consists of a hol:17ow body (1) forming a pad or-air bubble, which-is formed by two pieces. (2) and (3) coupled together, piece (2) having.acup type shape.with a perimetric edge that.is positioned and retained in a. groove (4). provided f or this purpose----in,an.extension-or perimetric flange W-belonging to-piece (3), tle lat-ter having -in its outer surface an edge,(7"Y that projects withregard to the bottom surface of the solia--(6) when the whole body -M remains integrated or injected_ in the sole. (6.)
2. A dampening device for. incorporation-into the undersideof a shoe, the. device comprising a f irst generally cup-shaped member defining a pad or air bubble and a second member coutled to. the first member, the second member comprising a circumferential flange and a generally downwardly extending flange.
3. A device according to claim 2 Wherein the first member is provided with a peripheral edge and the second member is provided with a groove shaped to co-operate with the peripheral edge to hold the first and second members together.
4. A device according to claim 2 or claim 3, wherein-the circumferential flange extends substantially completely around the first member.
5. A device according to any of claims 2-4, wherein the generally downwardly extending f lange is endless.
6. A device according to afty of claims 2-5, wherein the first member is integral with a sole and/or heel of a shoe.
