Mine props of the type having a cap-piece filled with crushable material and slots in the cap-piece to allow escape thereof, have means whereby the height of the bearer may be adjusted. The cap-piece e is provided with a hemispherical top surface against which contact inclined portions of strutting irons, which are slotted at r to receive projections k on the cap-piece, and which have inclined upper portions n to receive the bearers c. The height of the bearer is adjusted by varying the distance apart of the strutting irons by means of bolts u.
