Description

SPECIFICATION Illuminated flower pot holder This invention relates to flower pot holders or flower pots incorporating a means of illuminating the plants contained, or incorporating a decorative fountain, or both.
Flower pot holders are in widespread use for decorative purposes. However, it is not current practice to incorporate illumination or fountains in such items.
The present invention is to improve the displayed appearance of plants contained by incorporating into a flower pot holder (or flower pot) a means of illuminating the plants or a fountain (or both).
The light source will also aid growth of certain plants.
There are an infinite variety of possible embodiments of the invention, four specific embodiments being shown on the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 shows in cross section a means of illuminating a small flower pot holder suitable for domestic use, with the light source 1 mounted mounted below the flower pot 2 and separated by a sheet of translucent material 3, sealed to prevent the ingress of moisture.
Figure 2 shows in cross section a means of illuminating a similar flower pot holder by means of low voltage lights 1, supported in a mounting ring 4 with a transformer 5 in the cable feeding the unit.
Figure 3 shows in cross section an illuminated flower pot (with no separate internal container). The light source 1 is surrounded by a translucent cover 3, and the lower part of the unit is filled with earth 6.
Figure 4 shows in cross section a large flower pot suitable for use in public buildings incorporating edge illumination 1 and a central fountain 7, with a reservoir 8 for the fountain and to keep the earth moist and a submerged pump 9.
These illustrations indicate some of the possible embodiments of the invention, but the shape, size, material and colour of the flower pot holder (or flower pot) do not form part of the invention, nor do the type, position, shape, colour, number or size of the means of illumination or fountain, For commercial reasons it may be desirable to embody the invention in a flower pot holder (or flower pot) specifically designed for the illumination or fountain to be added subsequent to purchase.
1. A flower pot holder incorporating a means of illumination for the plants contained.
2. A flower pot incorporating a means of illumination for the plants contained.
3. A flower pot holder incorporating a fountain.
4. A flower pot incorporating a fountain.
5. A flower pot holder constructed specifically so as to be suited for fitting with a fountain or illumination.
6. A flower pot constructed specifically so as to be suited for fitting with a fountain or illumination.
