Abstract
218,445. Naylor, G. W., and Naylor, J. F. May 23, 1923. Moulds; casting processes.-Ingot moulds are provided at their upper ends with a lining of unburnt clay or clay mixture shaped to leave a space for the reception of coke, cinder &c. The clay may be tarred. The clay a, Fig. 1, may be retained by strips of metal d. In a modification the lower end of the clay is shaped to fit the taper of the mould. In other modifications the clay may be ribbed or flanged. As applied to a mould with a feeder head c, Fig. 4, ribs a<2> seat on a flange on the feeder head. The lining may be divided either longitudinally or transversely.
