Abstract

To obtain from viscose threads, films, &c. of increased elasticity without loss of other properties, there is used a coagulating bath consisting of an acid-salt solution containing multivalent cathions, such as magnesium, and a small proportion of a zinc salt. A suitable bath contains 7.5 per cent sulphuric acid, 11 per cent sodium sulphate, 8 per cent magnesium sulphate, and 1/2 -1 per cent zinc sulphate. Organic substances such as glucose, may also be added. Specification 406/11 is referred to.
