Abstract

215,836. Davies, D. R., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Feb. 16, 1923. Oil switches.-A con tact 3 within the tank 7. is automatically earthed when the lid 14 of the tank is raised and disconnected from earth when the lid is closed. The earthing means comprise a rod 16 sliding in a fixed earth support 17, a two armed lever 18 pivotec to the tank at 19, a spring 22 which urges the lever 18 and rod 16 downwards and a pro jection 21 on the lid which presses on the end of the lever 18 when the lid is closed. The invention is shown applied to a switch in which a conductor 2 having contacts 3 is adapted to be connected by blades 4 with either of two fixed contacts 5 connected to conductors 1, actuation being effected by handles 8.
