Abstract

215,654. Scott, G. Sept. 29, 1923. Lifting-cradles.-Relates to a device for lifting bundles or cases of metal sheets &c. A cross-bar D is movable on a frame A and carries pivoted arms E with projecting members F on which the load rests. The lifting-shackle is at the end of a pair of ropes C passing over pulleys B, D<2> on the frame and cross-bar, so that the weight of the load forces the bar D upwards and the load is clamped between the parts A and F. The movable parts of the cradle are locked in this position by pawls H<1> on the cross-bar engaging racks A<1> on the frame, and by pawls G on the arms E engaging notches in the cross-bar. The pawls H<1> are provided with cam-surfaces which release the pawls G when the pawls H' are disengaged by turning the hand-levers H<2>.
