Abstract
215,551. Davis, A. H. April 25, 1923. Folding seats; seating surfaces, attaching; head rests.-A chair adapted to be folded into a small compass comprises two side frames which are connected at the back by pivoted cross bracing 21 enabling the frames to be brought close together. Each side frame consists of a back upright 1 and a front leg member 2 which are connected by cross bars 4, 3 pivoted to each other and to the back and front leg members respectively and forming arm rests. To each cross bar is pivoted one end of a pair of diagonal bracing strips 8, 9 whose lower ends are pivoted to the lower ends of members 1 and 2, The seating fabric 27 is carried by bars 29, which fit in clips 30 on the front and back members. The arm rests are locked in their extended position by a turn button 18. According to the Provisional Specification the upper clip for the seating fabric is carried by pivoted links which constitute, together with the bar, a head and back rest. A modification of the arm rest is also described therein, the horizontal members ending at the point of connection to the diagonal strips, the gap being bridged by a link pivoted to the near side link and pinned or otherwise connected to the front link.
