Description
SPECIFICATION Upper guide for weft inserters in multished weaving machines
The present invention relates to a weft inserter guiding device for a multished weaving machine.
During passage of a weft inserter through warp threads, its motion is assisted by a pair of rollers, of which one forms part of the weft inserter, while the other forms part of an intermediate means. For the purpose of mutual interaction of these rollers, it is necessary to provide a support for the weft inserter, which prevents a possible over-travel of the roller in the weft inserter relative to that in the intermediate means. This support is formed by supporting bars. Upon handling the warp threads, it is necessary to draw away those supporting bars from the weft inserters, so as to provide sufficient handling space.A device is known, in which the supporting bars each have a sweep arm on the end of which are first circular sleeves for mounting a swingable carrying tube, which is itself carried by second circular sleeves of holders mounted stationarily on a beam of the weft inserter's returning guideway, the handling position of the supporting bar being situated in the withdrawing direction of the fabric produced. The disadvantage of this arrangement is that for the purpose of maintaining rigidity of the whole device, it has to be dimensioned to be very strong, particularly the sweep arms for maintaining rigidity of the whole structure, this influencing disadvantageously the mass of the weaving machine. Simultaneously, the whole structure of the device affects disadvantageously the warp handling, which is to be performed via this device.
The above mentioned disadvantages are mitigated by an upper weft inserter guideway for a multished weaving machine, according to the present invention, which is mountable on such a weaving machine and comprising at least one swingable supporting bar movable between an operative and a handling position wherein the supporting bar is mounted pivotally by means of at least one arm to a pivot means or axle securable by means of a fastening element to a stationary reed, the supporting bar being provided with at least one locking device to lock the bar in the operative position. The advantage of the device according to the invention is the considerable simplicity of construction, low mass, good handling possibilities for the warp threads whilst attending to a weaving machine, high reliability and stability of adjustment.
An exemplary embodiment according to the present invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, of which:
Figure 1 is a front view of an upper guideway of the invention, and
Figure 2 is a cross section of the upper guideway of Fig. 1 fastened to a stationary reed.
The upper guideway for multished weaving machine inserters as shown in Fig. 1 and 2 consists of a supporting bar 1, which is fixed by means of first screws 2 to a pair of arms 3, each of which is provided in its upper part with a circular opening 4.
A fixed axle 5 passes through each opening 4 and is fixed statically by means of a fastening element 7, e.g. a collet 8 with a second screw 9 to a stationary reed 10, or it is possible to fix the fastening element 7 directly by means of a through-bolt to the stationary reed 10 through which pass the warp threads 11, which form, by means of a shedding device (not shown), the shed 1 2. Inserting elements (not shown) pass through the shed and these are guided on the upper side by the supporting bar 1 and on the lower side by a lower guideway 1 3. In front of the lower guideway 13, a rotary beat-up reed 1 4 is mounted, which is represented diagrammatically. On the axle 5 fixed to a static part 2 the machine by element 7 is mounted, by means of third screws 15, a sleeve 16, to which a resilient element 17, e.g. a torsion spring, is fastened, which engages opening 1 8 formed in arm 3. Arm 3 is pivotal on axle 5 and is thus urged by the spring in a clockwise direction as seen in Fig. 2 so as to tend to lift the upper guideway from the lower guideway.
The upper guideway is secured in its operative position by means of a locking device 19, e.g.
a lever 20 with a handle part and a body part which is rectangular in plan view mounted rotatably on pin 22 by means of spring 21, while lever 20 engages in its securing position with a groove 23 or formed in the fastening element 7, the latter being provided with an adjustable screw 24 behind lever 20 for the adjustment of height of the supporting bar 1 of the upper guideway of the inserting elements. The groove 23 receives the right hand rear corner (as seen in Fig. 1) of the rectangular body of lever 20. Spring 21 urges this corner into the groove 23.Screw 24 passes through element 7 with its top abutting on upper face of stationary reed 1 0. Screwing in of this screw increases distance between element 7 (with the parts fixed to it) and reed 1 0. Screwing out decreases distance between element 7 and reed 1 0. Before adjustment of screw 24 it is necessary to slacken screw 9.
After adjustment screw 9 is tightened. During weaving the supporting bar 1 is situated in its operative position and holds the weft inserters (not shown) in its path. When it is necessary to handle the warp threads or the inserting elements, the locking device 1 9 is disengaged by lifting lever 20, pushing it against action of spring 21, and turning it in the warp direction about pin 22, thus disengaging the corner of lever 20 from the groove 23 of the fastening element 7. The supporting bar 1 with arms 3 is swung out about axle 5, by means of the action of spring 17, on the axle 5 in the direction of withdrawing the fabric into a handling position, the handling space being thus cleared. By presenting the support bar 1 in the direction towards the lower guideway 13, and by securing the locking device 1 9 by turning lever 20 into engagement with groove 23 of the fastening element 7, supporting bar 1 is in its operative position.
It is advantageously possible, to separate the supporting bar 1 of the upper guideway into several sections, on each of which is performed the fastening of supporting bar 1 to the axle 5 fixed to the stationary reed 10 according to the present invention.
The present invention is for use in a multished weaving machine.
