Ambulances.-In an ambulance vehicle in which the loading of an upper stretcher-carrier is facilitated by collapsing the carrier rearwardly on its pivoted legs by a parallel-rule like motion, the carrier comprises two members c, d, hinged together, the legs f supporting the member c being removable, to adapt this member to be dropped against the vehicle side to form a backrest for persons sitting on the lower stretcher carrier a. Each leg f is secured to the member c by a lug j and is hinged to the leg and adapted to be removably clamped in a socket k secured to the member c, a similar joint connecting the foot of the leg to the lower carrier a. Springs located in telescopic tubes o, p may assist in raising the upper carrier.
