Description

SPECIFICATION Quick mounting sectional balustrade The invention relates to a balustrade consisting of unit elements capable of being mounted quickly and of being adapted to balconies of different sizes.
It also relates to mounting elements to be incorporated in the cast structure of a building during casting, to which the balustrade or other components can be secured without further fastenings being necessary.
The present invention provides for a unit balustrade consisting of a series of tubular and/or sectional elements, which are fastened to corresponding clamps that have been previously incorporated in the concrete structure of a building, allowing an easy and quick mounting.
The balustrate can then be completed by means of suitable panels made of plastics, metal or other suitable material, according to what is required; the balustrade is suitable for installation on buildings of any kind, both civil and industrial.
The elements allowing the quick fastening of the balustrade components may be incorporated in the cast concrete during the construction, enabling the costs of the subsequent finishing works to be considerably reduced, and to avoid unaesthetic fastenings having to be used, particularly in the case of faced concrete constructions.
As it is known, in building, the concrete structure is first made, and subsequently the fixtures are applied and the finishing works are completed.
These phases concern the construction of almost all buildings, with the exception of prefabricated buildings.
This method involves, however, a waste of work, besides the risk of unaesthetic and harmful interventions.
In fact, as far as the application of concrete structures is concerned, it is necessary to secure fastenings by breaking the concrete, welding the fastening and subsequently sealing with concrete or mortar, and this brings about inconveniences.
More problems arise in the case of balcony balustrades or the like, as they are usually manufactured in the workshop, by joining different parts together e.g. by means of welding or soldering.
Then the balustrades, which are usually of a single piece or a few pieces of large size, are transported to the site where they are fixed to the balcony concrete slab.
There are therefore transport problems, due to the sizes of the balustrade components, as well as problems concerning the fastening of the balustrade itself to the structures.
According to the present invention there is provided a sectional balustrade comprising, mounting elements to be incorporated in the casting of a cast structure on which the balustrade is to be mounted, a sectional framework which can be connected to the mounting elements, sectional elements for fastening to said structure, and infill panels which are to be supported by the sectional elements.
Said elements, of preferably tubular or metal section, can be easily transported, and it is possible to fit them without difficulty even to balconies having sizes different from the standard ones.
This is done by using elements which, after they are incorporated in the concrete during casting, allow components to be fixed to the structures, it being not necessary to break the concrete, or make holes or the like.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way of an example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a balustrade according to the invention, after mounting.
Figure 2 is an exploded view of some of the components of the balustrade according to the invention, shown in the mounting position; and Figure 3 is a perspective view of an element for securing the various parts of the balustrade to a concrete structure.
The balustrade according to the invention is fastened to a series of support elements 1 such as the one illustrated in Figure 3, and which will be further described in detail. The elements 1 will have been previously incorporated in the cast concrete, and set in position preferably by means of a template or the like, not shown in the drawing.
The balustrade structure comprises tubular angular elements 2 that are connected, by means of connector portions 3 or the like, to support elements 1 at one end, to vertical posts 4 at the opposite end.
To the posts 4 there are fixed, e.g. by means of a screw thread or the like, T-shaped connector elements 5 in which are fitted, for example, tubular elements 6 which serve as a handrail.
The ends of said handrail are connected to elements 1 located on the wall at the desired height.
The angular elements 2 and the posts 4 are provided apertures 7 through which bolts or the like extend, and which serve to fix to the structure sectional elements 8 supporting panels 9.
Each of the support elements 1 consists of a preferably cylindrical body 10, provided with a screw thread 12 on its inner surface. The end of the body 10 is open and is provided, on its peripheral part, with a plurality of drilled lugs or the like 14.
The opposite end of the body 10 is closed by an end wall 15, and its periphery 1 6 has a diameter greater than that of the body 10, so as to form an annular projection about the element itself. Said element 1 can be fixed to the formwork by driving nails or the like through the holes in the lugs 14.
Thus, the open end of the body 10 is on the outer part of the cast structure, whilst the closed end is located inside the same, the end wall 1 5 preventing the concrete from penetrating into the element 1.
The annular projection 16 serves to keep the body 10 in place when the adhesion between the body 10 and concrete is not sufficient for the applied loads.
Once said elements 1 are incorporated in the concrete structure, the angular members 2 are screwed into them; by means of portion 3, and the posts 4 are screwed into the angular members 2.
Then the handrail 6 is mounted by means of the tee-piece connectors 5, and finally the section 8 with the panel 9, which can be mounted either internally of externally in respect of the balustrade.
In the case of balconies whose sizes are not modular, it is sufficient to adjust the length of the handrail by horizontal adjustment of the end elements 1 which are then secured to the wall mounting in the usual way.
Before mounting the balustrade, the elements 1 may be used for fastening provisional structures such as for instance scaffolding or the like.
The same elements 1 can be secured to other parts of the building in order to allow the application of door- and window-frames, light fittings, gratings, curtains and other things, by varying only the sizes of the element itself.
Besides the sizes, also the employed material may obviously vary according to the different requirements of use.

Claims (9)

1. A sectional balustrade comprising, mounting elements to be incorporated in the casting of a cast structure on which the balustrade is to be mounted, a sectional framework which can be connected to the mounting elements, sectional elements for fastening to said structure, and infill panels which are to be supported by the sectional elements.
2. A sectional balustrade as claimed in claim 1, in which the sectional framework consists of tubular elements connected one to another by means of connectors, there being provided connector means for fastening said framework to said mounting elements after they have been previously incorporated in the casting.
3. A sectional balustrade as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, in which the sectional elements for supporting the panels form part of said framework.
4. A sectional balustrade comprising screw threaded sleeves forming mounting elements inserted in the structure on which the balustrade is mounted during casting, angular connectors insertable in said mounting elements, posts connected to said angular elements by means of screw threaded portions, tee-piece connectors securing a handrail to said posts, and sectional elements supporting infill panels fixed to said posts.
5. Elements for securing components to concrete structures, consisting of a hollow body that can be incorporated in the concrete structure during casting, there being provided means to allow the subsequent application and removal of other components to the elements.
6. Fastening elements as claimed in claim 5, comprising a tubular body, provided with an inner screw thread.
7. Fastening elements as claimed in claim 5 or claim 6, in which they are provided protruding parts for a better clamping to the concrete structures.
8. Fastening elements as claimed in any one of claims 5 to 7, in which the inner end part of said elements is closed by an end wall.
9. Fastening elements as claimed in any one of claims 6 to 8, provided with means for the fastening thereof to the framework, said means being located in the vicinity of the open end of the element itself.
