Abstract

A digital linear gauge uses Moire fringe effect for obtaining a countable output related to relative movement of two gauge elements. A microprocessor circuit receives the output and counts it and applies it as drive to a visual display. The microprocessor permits modification of the output, and also has memory means capable of storing, and providing access to, stored counts and inserted values and/or instructions, prior to an end result being shown on the display.
