Vacuum tubes. - The electrodes d', d<2> of a protective sparkgap apparatus are made of copper or other metal having a higher melting point than aluminium and their wide discharge surfaces are coated with aluminium. The electrodes d<1>, d<2> are fused into a glass foot e and are connected to caps b<1>, b<2> respectively provided with connecting lugs c', c<2>. The glass container a is filled with an inert gas such as nitrogen, argon, neon or helium.
