Abstract

A data storage and indicating device for use with a dynamic balancing machine comprises a series of storage units 6, 11 and 13 for storing the currently available unbalance values provided by the machine and those unbalance values which were made available in previous balancing steps. The storage units are connected to a computing circuit 16 for processing the unbalance values, e.g. by combining them. A control circuit 15 enables the data handled by the computing circuit 16 to be transferred selectively to an analogue or digital display 10 for indicating the quality and effectiveness of the balancing procedure from step to step. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Device for the storage and display of dynamic unbalance values This invention relates to a device for the storage and display of dynamic unbalance values.
German patent application DE-AS 1278 140 discloses a method and a device for the electrical compensation of that portion of a measured value not derived from the unbalance of a rotor, wherein in a first run a first total unbalance value is determined, compensated and stored, whereupon in a second run, for which the rotor in manner known per se is turned through 1800, a second total unbalance value, though with the measurement direction offset in phase by 1800, is determined; the second total unbalance value has the stored value from the first run super-imposed on it in manner known per se, the result being then halved, stored and mixed with the readings from a subsequent series of balancing runs.
This type of method and a dynamic balancing machine operating in accordance with this method are not however capable of storing and keeping available the individual readings from the last measuring run during dynamic balancing, for instance in orderto be able to compare the result with a starting value. In the production of a mean value for 180 indexing balancing method, to which the aforesaid German patent application refers, it is also not possible to display the error itself.
Starting with this prior art, the present invention is based on the problems of investigating the contents of measured unbalances.
According to the present invention we provide a device for the storage and indication of dynamic unbalance values, characterised in that, in addition to storing the currently available unbalance value provided by a dynamic balancing machine, at least one preceding reading is separately stored, in that the stored values can be transferred to a computing circuit, in that a control circuit is connected to the computing unit, and in that in correspondence with the chosen control circuit, a resu It for the stored unbalance values, processed in the computing unit and with the correct preceding sign, is indicated.
Access of the control circuit to the computing unit enables the measured unbalance values to have their contents investigated and compared with the results from the current measuring procedure.
In one embodiment of the invention, further storage units for intermediate results are provided in the computing unit, and said computing unit is connected to a digital display unit. The provision of further storage units for intermediate results in the computing unit, together with access by the control circuit, enables the investigation of unbalance value contents to be appreciably extended. In one embodiment the correction made has its correct sign shown.
This makes the quality of unbalance correction readily visible to the eye. In yet a further embodiment of the inventive concept it is proposed that the errors in correction be displayed. This permits monitoring of the accuracy of each step in a mutli-stage unbalance correction.
The device in accordance with the invention can also be used very effectively in monitoring balancing using the 1800 indexing method previously mentioned in that during such balancing the error in that component which is not indexed can also be displayed. This enables conclusions to be drawn on the distribution of unbalance in the test body before the balancing procedure.
The accompanying drawing utilises a block circuit diagram to described more fully the functioning of the device provided by the invention.
This block diagram shows the electrical circuit for a two-plane correction, though without representing the dynamic balancing machine itself; in this preferred embodiment the unbalance values are separately stored for each plane in components. The reference numbers for the second plane are as for the first plane, with an added dash. The unbalance information for the first plane 1, divided into components, is fed via leads 4, 5 to a pair of preliminary storage units 6, 7. The same conditions apply to the second plane 2, leads 4', 5' and preliminary storage units 6', 7'. Also provided are stop means 9 connected to the pairs of storage units 6,7 and 6', 7'. On actuation of stop means 9 these stored unbalance values can be shown in a display unit 10 or 10', which may be of analog or digital type.Within the scope of the invention the component display may be replaced by polar display, likewise analog or digital, in the display units 10 or 10'. On opening of stop means 9 the unbalance value which is then stored in preliminary storage units 6,7 or 6', 7' is transferred to a further pair of storage units 11, 12 or 11', 12'. The storage units 6,7 or 6', 7' are thus free for a new measurement, while the preceding measurement is kept available in the units 11, 12 or 11', 12'.
During a further measurement and new intake of unbalance values the storage units 6,7 or 6', 7' are supplied with fresh unbalance values, while on actuation of stop means 9 the new values can be shown in display unit 10 or 10', while the values in the further storage units 11, 12 or 11', 12' are transferred to a third pair of units 13, 14 or 13', 14'.
Hence the units 6,7 or 6', 7' are again ready to receive a new measurement, while the values held in the second pair of storage units 11, 12 or 11', 12' and in the third pair of stores 13, 14 or 13', 14' can be recalled through a control circuit 15 into an evaluation circuit 16.
In this evaluation circuit 16 the information now present in the pairs of storage units 11, 12 and 13, 14 or 11',12' and 13',14' can be combined in any desired manner, so that in dependence on an advance switch 17, on comparing the unbalance value found in store 13 with the corresponding value in store 11 the difference between the two values can be shown in display unit 10, or on formation of the half-total the corresponding value can also be shown in display unit 10, while on formation of the halfdifference in the evaluation circuit 16 this value can also be shown in the display unit.
However it is also possible for the new unbalance value present in store 6 to be compared in circuit 16 with the unbalance value present in the third store 16, as described forth two storage units 11 and 13, with these values also being shown in display unit 10. For simplicity's sake only one component has been described; however it will readily be realised that these procedures apply in similar mannerto the other components or also to the polar representation of an unbalance value.
In balancing in alternating sequence for example, i.e. where one workpiece is having its unbalance measured while correction is proceeding on the previously measured workpiece, with this device it is possible for the unbalance data for the workpiece currently being corrected to be shown in display unit 10 or 10', since said data is stored in display unit 10 or 10', since said data is stored in units 11 or 13, or in one of the other storage units 12, 14, 11', 3', 12', 14', without having to interrupt the measurement.
With a repeated test run, the new unbalanced reading for the corrected workpiece, now appearing in storage unit 6, can be compared with the unbalance reading before correction still available in storage unit 13; both these values can also be displayed, which means the quality and effectiveness of he correction procedure becomes obvious.
