Abstract

In a seed share arrangement two shares 23, 24 and associated feeler wheels 10, 11 are mounted on a beam 5, which is rotatably mounted on a rocker 2, which is in turn rotatably mounted on a share bar 1. Thus the beam 5 can oscillate to accommodate changes in the relative levels of the ground at the two shares/feeler wheels, and the rocker 2 can oscillate to accommodate changes in the relative levels of the ground between two such devices mounted on the same share bar 1. In this way the depth of each share may be controlled by its particular feeler wheel, while more than one share is mounted on a carrying device. A lever system 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 may be provided to adjust the height of the feeler wheels 10, 11. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Seed share arrangement The invention relates to a seed share arrangement with seed shares carried by a share bar and with feeler wheels associated with the seed shares.
Seed shares are already known (see U.S. Patent Specification 4,208,974), which are arranged on parallelograms guided, in turn, by wheels. Such so-called parallelogram seed shares have not proved successful in practice, since each seed share requires a parallelogram which is relatively expensive, because, instead of one share mounting conventional in practice, four mountings are now necessary, and also approximately four times as many tubes and guide rods, so that the outlay is considerable, but the success achieved thereby does not justify this outlay.
A further problem of so-called parallelogram seed shares must be seen in the fact that the desired narrow distances between rows and the large number of shares needed for machine working on a broad front lead to the danger of clogging.
If two or more shares are arranged on one parallelogram, the problem arises that depth guidance can be guaranteed, to some extent, by feeler wheels for a single share only, since the other share is offset forwards or to the side, and, if the ground is uneven in directions of travel or transversely thereto, this share engages into the earth too deeply or too shallowly or not at all.
The object on which the invention is based is to develop further a seed share arrangement of the type described in the introduction, so that the seed shares, guided via feeler wheels, can work individually in the ground, even though two shares are carried by one carrying device.
Accordingly the present invention provides an arrangement in which two shares, with associated feeler wheels, are supported on a beam, rotatably mounted on a rocker which is in turn rotatably mounted on the share bar. In these, the shares can adapt themselves even to undulations in the surface of the ground, which is not possible in the hitherto known parallelogram guides due to the guide rods in a rigid parallelogram arrangement.
According to a further feature of the invention, the feeler wheels required are not provided in the centre or in the centre plane of the beam, but, with regard to the direction of travel, in front of the front share and behind the rear share. In this way, the shares can also adapt themselves, to a certain extent, to undulations in the ground, that is to say, furrows in the direction of travel. In the case of furrows which are always present and are caused, for example, by the tractor wheels, the front feeler wheel would be supported in the furrow and would consequently also lead to this depth the share located behind it, whilst the rear share, qffset relative to the front share, is conveyed in its vertical setting by the rear feeler wheel, the rear feeler wheel, which is also offset relative to the front feeler wheel, being supported on another point of the ground.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.
In the drawling, 1 denotes a share bar known per se, which carries a share rocker 2 articulated pivotably at 3 on a holder supported by the share bar 1. At the other end, the share rocker carries a beam 5 which is mounted pivotably about the centre of gravity 4 and which can be made, for example, tubular and extends in the direction of travel.
The beam 5 carries share legs 6 and 7 which can be designed, at the same time, as seed feed tubes and which are arranged vertically adjustably on the beam in a manner known per se.
Furthermore, the beam supports feeler wheels 10 and 11 via retaining flanges 8 and 9, the retaining flanges 8 and 9 being located on the sides of the beam 5 which lie opposite one another It can be seen in the drawing that, looking in the drawing plane, the retaining flange 8 is arranged on the nearside of the beam 5 and the retaining flange 9 on the far side of the beam 5.
The retaining flange supports pivotably the feeler wheel assigned to it, with a wheel fork 12 and 14 respectively being interposed, so that oscillating movements about the hinge points 1 5 and 16 are possible. The wheel fork 12 or 14 respectively is connected via a lever segment 1 7 or 1 8 respectively, and with connecting rods 1 9 and 20 respectively being interposed, to an adjusting lever 21 which is designed as a verticaladjustment device for the feeler wheels 10, 11.
The adjusting lever 21 interacts with a catch 22, so that it can be seen at a glance whether all, for example 24 adjusting levers of a machine can be adjusted to the same vertical setting.
Instead of an adjusting lever 21 and instead of the adjustment of the feeler wheels 10, 11 by means of connecting rods, as described, it is also possible to provide a spindle adjustment, but in rough agriculatural operation this is certainly more susceptible than the vertical-adjustment device described above and does not make it possible to check at a glance the uniform adjustment of all the feeler wheels.
The actual seed shares can be seen at 23 and 24.
As a result of the use of the share rocker 2 according to the invention which at one end is supported, so that it can oscillate, on the share bar 1 at 3 and which at the other end supports the beam 5 so that the latter can oscillate, it is possible for the shares 23 and 24 to adapt themselves even to undulations in the surface of the ground.
The vertical-adjustment device which is formed essentially by the adjusting lever 21 guarantees a rapid and sufficiently fine adjustment of the feeler wheels 10, 11, specifically for both wheels 1 0, 11 at the same time.
