Abstract

Woolly effects are produced on threads, yarns and fabrics containing cellulose acetate silk by treatment with acetic or formic acids at or about boiling temperature. To restrain the effect of the acid, a protective colloid, such as gelatine, soaps, boiled-off liquor, or turkey-red oil, or a salt such as sodium chloride or sulphate, or magnesium sulphate, may be added to the solution. In an example, the goods are treated at boiling temperature with a bath of dilute acetic acid containing a small percentage of turkey-red oil. Specification 165,164 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the use of organic acids in general; and it also states that dull or matt effects are produced by boiling soap solutions, or by barium salts, or phenolic bodies. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
