Abstract
204,523. Mann, W. G. Sept. 27, 1922. Hook fastenings.- A hook fastening for use in securing the lids of boxes, &c., comprises a plate having a curved slot g which forms a sliding engagement with a projection d on one part of the box, and a hooked end f for engaging laterally with another projection c on the other part of the box. A central boss i is provided on the plate to which one end of a coiled spring h is secured while the other end is attached to a fixed point d. The slot g is slightly eccentric to the projection c. In the position shown the spring h is partially unwound, and by pressing in the direction of 'the arrow on the flange j the hook end f is released owing to the eccentricities of the slot g, and the pivot d returns to the position shown in the slot. To fasten the device pressure must be applied at j against the action of the spring, until the projection d is moved sufficiently along the slot to permit the hook to engage, in which position it is held by the tension so introduced into the spring h. In a modification the plate has a portion bent back on itself to conceal the spring.
