Abstract

204,435. Maybury, T. W. July 10, 1922. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Lateral-splash guards.-To prevent undue swing but allow a splash guard mounted on a bearing on the wheel hub to turn with the wheel it is provided with a spring d and an arm a<3> attached to the axle, the arm a<3> comprising a swivel joint a<4> coaxial with the vertical axis of the stub axle; in a modification the arm is attached to the stub axle or stub axle spindle and the swivel joint is dispensed with. In a further modification shown in Fig. 4 the splash guard is attached to a sprung part of the vehicle by a swivel joint j coaxial with the vertical axis of the stub axle, an arm k, a torque member l and a piston m moving against a spring o in a cylinder n. The splash guard k may be of the form described in Specification 192,975. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 10986/12, 5429/14, 15883/14, 12400/15, 108,882, 165,585, and 175,848.
