Feeding webs.-Relates to fabric expanders of the kind comprising revolving fluted bars, such as 2, which are caused to reciprocate while revolving by the engagement of studs 6 on the bars with stationary inclined cams 8, and consists in the improvementof various details of the apparatus. (1) Renewable wearing brackets 3, Fig. 7, are provided between the bars 2 and their supporting segments 4. These brackets are secured to the bars and have guide projections sliding between the segments. The bars are retained by plates 3<a> and nuts. (2) The end brackets 12, Figs. 2 and 4, are constructed of substantially L-shaped form and with curved slots 12<a> to allow of angular adjustment of the sleeves carrying the cams 8, and to facilitate the mounting of the usual screwed rod 10 provided for adjusting the cams about their pivots 9<a>. A set screw 9<c> is provided for fixing the sleeve 9 in its adjusted position. The L-shaped form of the brackets permits the expander to be placed close to the machine in which the fabric is being treated. (3) The boxes 7, Figs. 2 and 5, which carry the studs 6 and slide in the cams and which are provided, as already known, with a detachable side 7<a>, are constructed with end lugs or plates 7<b> on the side. 7<a> so that the fixing screws 7<c> for the side 7<a> do not contact with the cam surfaces, thereby reducing friction. A removable section 8<a> of the side of the cam permits removal and displace. ment of any bar 2 independently of the others. (4) The cams are constructed with a portion 13, Fig. 9, set at a greater inclination than the remainder to give the fabric an increased expansion. as it is about to leave the apparatus.
