Abstract

A drive circuit (10) for one or more inductive loads (30, 62) provides rapid actuation and deactuation in response to a control signal (E1), and includes a boost coil (12) which is pre-energized preparatory to the actuation of an inductive load (30). Each load (30) has an associated switching circuit which responds to an actuation signal to receive current from the pre-energized boost coil (12). The switching circuit responds to a deactuation signal by maintaining a relatively high voltage (Vz1) across the inductive load in the transition from its actuated to deactuated states to rapidly decrease the current (I1) through the load and speed deactuation. Switch 16, closed to pre-energize the coil 12, is opened at the instant control E1 turns on switch 34 thus giving a high supply voltage EA, limited by zener 26. Molding current to the load 20 may pass via a diode (58 Fig. 2 not shown) with an isolating diode (59) then required also. <IMAGE>
