Abstract
201,984. Shaw, W. B. May 1, 1922. Dials and scales. - Glass covers g, Fig. 1, are attached to the frames a of instrument cases and the like by means of a metal ring b having a groove e to receive the glass g, and an exterior flange B in conjunction with a clamping-ring d adapted to hold the said flange B to the fitting &c. The ring may be formed of two semicircular portions butting together, and the glass may be retained in position by pressing the outer part b<1> of the groove e against the bead f of the glass g, with or without the intervention of a rubber ring or cement. In another form, the ring is formed of two rings j, k, Fig. 3, joined at their outer ends x, the lower ring k being suitably bent to form a groove for the glass. In another form, the ring m, Fig. 4, is formed with a depending flange n having a return edge o, and cement r holds the glass in position in the groove so formed.
