Abstract

A submarine cargo vessel which is towed by a surface tug has a cargo container 2 eg for liquid cargoes and at least two water ballast tanks 15 in which the level of ballast is controlled remotely from the surface tug by way of pneumatically operated valves. The vessel may also be ballasted by releasable weights and steered remotely from the tug. Reference should be made to the specification for details of the construction and arrangement of the vessel and its usages which include collecting water from icebergs. <IMAGE>
