Abstract

In a pneumatic tyre having a radial or cross-ply carcass reinforcement and an asymmetric crown reinforcement for its tread, there is a difficulty in that the asymmetric crown reinforcement tends to distort the carcass reinforcement. To avoid this in the present tyre a correcting assembly 5 is interposed between the crown reinforcement 4 and the carcass reinforcement 2. This assembly 5 consists of two plies 51, 52 of substantially inextensible cords, e.g. a single folded ply. The cords of the plies 51, 52 form, with the mid circumferential plane X-X', angles of not more than one third of the smallest angle formed with this same plane by the cords of the plies of the asymmetric crown reinforcement. The correcting assembly is centred on the median plane of the beads of the tyre. <IMAGE>
