Abstract

Around a combustion chamber opening 2, instead of metal edging, cover rings 5 and 6 of heat-resistant polymeric material are applied to precompressed regions 3 and 4 of the sealing surfaces of the gasket. Impregnation is then carried out on the free surfaces 8 and the cut surface 7, but cannot penetrate under the cover rings. <IMAGE>
