Abstract

The invention relates to an interposing relay for connection between a load to be energized from an alternating current source and switching means therefor. The interposing relay comprises an electronic switching device (32) which is connected across two output terminals (26, 28) for connection in series circuit relationship with the load (12) and the alternating current source (24), and a rectifier (36) which has its AC side connected across the output terminals (26, 28) through a voltage divider (R1, R2) supplying gate control for the electronic switching device, and which is adapted to have connected across its DC side said switching means (42). This interposing relay allows loads, such as AC contactors, to be controlled through DC lines (44) not subject to shunt-capacitance and series- impedance problems such as experienced with AC lines. Hence, it is particularly suitable for use in systems requiring control lines (44) of considerable length. <IMAGE>
