Abstract

A flood barrier kit for protecting a building from flooding comprising at least one door barrier 10 and at least one vent barrier (Fig 4). It may also include a drain cover (Fig 10) and a window barrier 10. The door flood barrier preferably comprises at least one bladder that when inflated will cause the door barrier to seal against the doorway or window aperture. The bladders may have an internal rigid member 30 for strengthening that may also divide the bladder into compartments, the rigid member may have apertures 34 that controls the rate of inflation in the compartments. An inlet and outlet valve 20 22 and a pressure relief valve 24 may be provided and pressure indicator means for determining if the bladder is fully inflated. A sealing member 40 is provided around the outside which may be a foam, including a water swellable (hydrophilic) foam. The drain pipe and vent barriers may also be inflatable.
