Abstract

A rigid plate having a workpiece supporting surface (12) is securable to a machine tool. A plurality of spindles (32), each rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the support surface, are journalled within the plate. Each spindle is provided with receiving means for detachably receiving attachment means tor affixing a workpiece to the supporting surface. The location of each receiving means is movable relative to the supporting surface in response to rotation of the respective spindle. In one embodiment of the invention means are provided for retracting the spindles, firmly to urge the work piece into engagement with the workpiece supporting surface. <IMAGE>
