Abstract

A ram cylinder (1) has a closed internal operating chamber (12) in which slides a hydraulically or pneumatically driven piston (6), the movements of the piston being converted to rotary movement of a shaft (4) having at least one end extending out of the operating chamber. Between the ram cylinder (1) and the piston (6) is formed a first mechanical connection preventing relative angular twisting thereof, with a single degree of freedom in the axial direction. Between the piston (6) and the shaft (4) is arranged a second mechanical connection preventing relative angular twisting thereof with at most one degree of freedom in the axial direction. At least one of the two mechanical connections is arranged along a helical path (13) whose axis is in the longitudinal direction and which is located in the interior of the operating chamber (12). <IMAGE>
