Abstract

Associated with the opposite ends of a mining machine for moving the machine along a fixed track are two propulsion rams (7, 9) that are simultaneously actuated in an opposite sense with respect to each other by control means (20, 50, 32, 33) comprising a directional control valve (50) which controls the supply of pressure fluid to the hydraulically actuated track-engaging means (11, 13) and which is actuated in accordance with the operation of means (32, 33) detecting when at least one of the propulsion rams is approaching the end of at least one stroke. The control means also comprises a further directional control valve (20) which controls the supply of pressure fluid to the propulsion rams and which is actuated in accordance with the supply of pressure fluid from the first mentioned direction control valve. <IMAGE>
