Laminar springs.-Relates to laminated springs of the kind in which plates interposed between the leaves are provided with lubricating passages extending longitudinally to points near the ends of the plates, lubricant being fed to the passages from an opening formed centrally through the leaves and supplied with lubricant by a bolt extending through the opening and provided with a longitudinal duct and transverse passages. According to the invention, the bolt 14, Figs. 2 and 3, is provided with a check nipple 16 for the attachment of means, such as a grease gun 31, for introducing lubricant into it under pressure to be fed to the passages 10, Fig. 4, extending through the insert plates 9. The check nipple comprises a cap member 21<a>, screwed through on the bolt and having a chamber 22 communicating with the longitudinal duct 20 and passages 21 in the bolt, and a nipple member 24 screwed into the cap member and formed with an opening 26 in its outer end normally closed by a spring-pressed ball 27. The grease gun comprises a cylinder 32 in which operates a piston 33 actuated by a threaded member 34, and the cylinder is provided with flexible tubing 35 adapted to be connected to the check nipple by a bayonet-slot 37 in a nozzle 36 and a pin 29 on the member 24. Washers 17, 18 interposed between the spring and the bolt head 15 and cap member 21<a> seal the opening 19 through the spring, and clips 4, 5 surround the spring leaves and insert plates and hold them together.
