Abstract

197,000. Broadhead, J. B., and Wood, T. Feb. 2, 1922. Closure members, hinged.-A hinged disc valve is provided with a segmental packing-ring contained in a recess in the periphery, the ring being retained by a keeper ring through which openings are formed to admit pressure fluid behind the packing-ring. The disc a is recessed at a<1> to receive a packing- ring b with rounded edge b<1> and a flange b<2>. A keeper ring c is bolted to the disc a, and is provided with a flange c<2> to limit the outward movement of the ring b, and with openings d to admit fluid pressure behind the ring b.
