Abstract
194,954. Melotte, A. April 8, 1922. Driving-arrangements.-To enable a low-power electric motor of the shunt or compound type to be started without the use of a rheostat, a spring 5 is arranged in the direction of the line joining the driven and driving shafts 1, 2 so as to allow the motor 9 to approach the driven shaft at starting and produce slipping of the driving-belt 6. The Figure shows a motor driving a cream separator. The motor is mounted on a rod 3 slidable in a socket 4 against the spring 5, a set-screw 7 co-operating with a slot 8 to limit the movement.
