Abstract
194,818. Fletcher, R. E., and Birch, A. Dec. 22, 1921. Interconnecting guard with starting-gear.-In the coiling-mechanism of carding-engines, combing-machines, lap machines, &c., means are pro. vided which lock the cover Thereof while the mech. anism. is in motion and prevent the coiler from being started with the cover raised. The cover g is locked by the bent-over portion m<2> of a lever m, which is pivoted to a brackert m<1> on the casing A and is linked to the starting-lever o of the machine or to other motion controlling means such as, ic the case of a carding-engine, the lever controlling the doffer. An arm m<3> on the lever m simultaneously locks the casing door k. As modified for use in a combing-machine &c., the lever m is uptvardty extended and has slotted engagement with an adjusting-screw on the horizontal starting-rod of the machine. The relative position of the parts g, m<2> is such that, on actuating the stopping-means, the part m<2> moves clear of the cover which, when raised, obstructs the return of the lever m.
