Driving.-A cream separator of the freelysuspended bowl type is driven by a single wheel 10 with helical teeth meshing with a worm 9 on the supporting rod 5, the teeth and thread being deeply cut to maintain engagement despite slight deviations from the vertical. To reduce the amplitude of movement of the worm the suspending cone and ball bearing 6 is arranged as near as possible to the horizontal plane passing through the axis of the wheel 10. A ball 13 and screw 14 secure the rod 5 in position, and an elastic guide 12 of the kind generally used in cream separators limits the deviations of the rod 5 from the vertical. A driving handle is mounted on the spindle 11 of the wheel 10.
