Abstract

15,365. Akt.-Ges. f³r Chemische Produkte vorm. Scheidemandel, H., [Assignees of Askensay, (nÚe Konig), L.]. Oct. 30, 1914, [Convention date]. Food preparations.-Gelatine, isinglass, &c. are subdivided by introducing the warm aqueous solution into a cool liquid which will not mix with the solution, for instance benzene, carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethylene, benzine, carbon bisulphide, benzyl alcohol, &c., to which may be added an oil or fattv substance such as olive oil; or the oil &c. may be mixed with the gelatine or like solution before introducing into the non-solvent. The gelatine or like solution may be dropped, injected, for instance by means of chloroform vapour, or otherwise introduced, for instance by placing the solution in a centrifugal drum having a filter-cloth periphery, the drum being rotated in the cool non-solvent. Other materials such as sugar, perfume, and colouring- matter, or, for food preparations, egg-powder, flour, &c. may be mixed with the gelatine &c. If the solution enters the non-solvent at a material speed, both coarse granules and fine powder are produced and are separated by sifting. The form of the particles is rounded, and is readily distinguished from adulterants which are ground.
