7875. Bade, H. May 27. Staging, suspended.-In a cradle or staging for use in sinking and lining shafts, the supporting - structure for the floor is arranged underneath the same, so that the space above the cradle remains free, except for a single central suspension member. The cradle comprises a ring a of U-section braced by transverse members b and provided with a ring d of angle-iron to receive the flooring c. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the cradle is connected by angularly adjustable jib-like supports e to vertical rails g rigidly secured by plates g<1> to rails h. The suspension cable k passes through a guide m and is secured to the rails h at a low point, if desired, below the cradle floor. The plummet line i passes between the rails g. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the pivoted sup. ports e are replaced by a rigid framework comprising radial members n and stiffening-plates o secured below the members b.
