Abstract

2976. Crossley, Sir K. I., and Webb, W. Le P. Sept. 14. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - In engines employing liquid fuel without the aid of injection air, the combustion chamber is water-jacketed and is of approximately oviform shape, the nozz'e C being placed at the smaller end, the admission and exhaust valves E, D on two sides, and the passage G to the cylinder on the third side. An ignition device may be provided on the fourth side. The valves E, D may be on a common axial line, as shown, or on the lines K L, M N, P Q, R S.
