Collapsible boats. - Boats, of the kind having a lower buoyant structure and an upper collapsible structure, which is supported by two sets of hinged members moving simultaneously and in opposite directions to erect or collapse the bulwarks, are fitted with kneejointed struts secured tu the lower buoyant structure and to the collapsible structure to extend the latter. Each strut d consists of two parts d<1>, d<2> united by a hingepin f carrying a support g for the seat o. To ensure that the struts shall bend only one way heel-pieces l, m are fitted which engage the gunwale and deck respectively. The struts are adapted to bend in a fore and aft direction, and carry the seats o, which are constructed with hinged portions r secured in position when the collapsible portion is erected by pins y, thus locking the boat in its open position. The thwarts n also rest on the brackets g, and are supported in the centre by hinged struts attached to the inner sides of the buoyant structure.
