[Addition to 15,889/14.] Clips, sliding-jaw.-In buckles of the kind in which the strap or webbing is gripped by a sliding clamp 8, Fig. 2, moved into gripping position by a cam 18 operated by a lever 13, the upper portion 10, Fig. 4, of the clamp is disposed at an angle to the plane of the buckle frame and the forward portion 11 is slightly curved upwards to facilitate the threading of the webbing. The clamp 8 has ears 9 sliding on the side bars of the buckle frame. The lever 13 is pivoted to the frame by means of ears 14, between which is provided the cam 18 having a flat face 16, a curved surface 17, and a locking- surface 18 contacting with the back of the lever 13. The front edge 24 of the lever is so formed that when in locking position, Fig. 4, it con- tacts with and supports the curved portion 11 of the clamp. Finger-pieces 19 conforming to the periphery of the side bars of the frame are provided on the lever. In a modification, Fig. 9, the front bar 1 of the buckle is disposed out of the plane of the frame, the nose 28 of the clamp being bent upwards at a greater angle. An additional bar 26, with which the clamp makes frictional contact, is provided to form a guide and support for the clamp. In a further modification, Fig. 10, the clamp 8 has loop por- tions 30 extending into the interior of the cam 15 so that the clamp 8 is positively moved towards and away from its locking position.
