15,889. Haddan, R., [Warner Bros. Co.]. Julv 2. Clips, sliding-jaw. - Relates to buckles of the type in which the webbing is gripped by a sliding element clamped by a cam operating- lever. The buckle comprises a wire frame 1, Figs. 1 and 3, on the top bar 4 of which a lever 9 is pivoted by means of ears 8. The lever has a cam 10 which causes an angle-piece 3 sliding on the side bars 5 of the frame to clamp the running length of the webbing against the bottom bar 6 which has a finger-piece 7 disposed at an angle to the frame. The buckle is threaded with webbing as shown so as to have a ' rustless ' back. The clamp 3 may consist of a plate having a serrated edge and the fingerpiece 7 may be omitted. In a modification, Fig. 7, the bottom bar 19 of the frame is bowed to form a resilient clamping bar and comprises upwardly bent portions 24, 25 joined by a curved portion 26 which acts as a finger-piece. In another form with resilient lower bar, Fig. 10, the sliding clamp comprises an angle-piece with the gripping-edge 27 serrated and disposed just outside the plane of the buckle frame.
