Abstract

Wire fencing; standards.-The standards 10, which are of curved or angular section and are slotted at their edges, are reinforced by an inner member 15, Figs. 2, 4. 5, and 6, which, on being driven down into the outer member, bears against, and holds, the wires 9 inserted in the slots. The top slots 13, 14 may be op. positety inclined. The inner member may also he slotted, and its slots 23 may be formed reversely to those 12 in the standards (see Fig. 9) ; in fixing. the parts are placed so that the mouths of the slots coincide for the insertion of the wires, and the inner member is then driven down to lock the wires. To heighten a fence, the member 15 can be extended upwardly, the wires engaging in slots therein, or, as shown in Fig. 13, in bends 20, where they are secured by rods 21 passing through holes in the bends. An horizontal member 17, formed with dovetails, may be used at the lower part of the standard to serve as a ground resistance device.
