Abstract
9769. Gillam, M. M. April 20. Air supply for combustion.-A smoke-consuming device for supplying hot air to the fires of stoves, ranges, &c. consists of a series of sections, including an inlet section, an outlet section, and as many identical intermediate sections as are rendered necessary by the draught and other conditions. Fig. 1 shows a device designed to be fitted to a range so as to ventilate the oven, and consisting of four sections fitted together in an horizontal plane. Fig. 3 shows a device consisting of four sections to be connected in parallel planes and designed to be fitted to a furnace door so that air passes through it from the inlet a<6> to a series of outlets a<14> over the fire. The inlet sections a<1>, Figs. 1 and 3, have each an aperture a<6>. The aperture a<6>, Fig. 1, is set over the ventilating-aperture in an oven top, and the aperture a<6>, Fig. 3, is connected to the outer side of a fire-door by a pipe. The intermediate and end sections a have spigots a<17> fitting apertures a<2> in the adjacent sections. The air passes baffles a<7> ... a<12>, becoming hot, and enters the combustion chamber by passages a<13>, a<14>.
