Operating d o o r s b y s p r i n g s ; c h e c k s .-In pneumatic door checks of the piston-and-cylinder type in which the pistonrod and c y l i n d e r are pivoted to the door frame and door respectively, a short cushioning-spring 32 is arranged on the pistonrod 21 adjacent to the piston 5 to check the door if opened too far. The check may be used with doors fitted with a spring hinge, or a closing-spring 27 may be arranged on the outside of the cylinder 14 with its ends connected respectively with a collar 26 fixed to the piston-rod 21 and with a collar 29 adjustably secured to the cylinder by a screw 31.
