4546. Carlson, R. G. Feb. 21. Lock mechanism, tumbler-type.-The bolt 7 is shot by a spring 10 and is locked in either position by means of a bell-crank tumbler 14, of which one end engages notches 11, 12 in the bolt, and the other end is in the path of the key. Plates 21, 22, Fig. 2, guide the depending arm of the tumbler and the lug 17 on which the key acts to withdraw the bolt. Bolt interlocking with staple.-Fig. 6 shows the lock adapted for use on sliding doors. The bolt 30 is connected by links 41 to levers 37, which are pivoted to the casing and, when the bolt is shot, move outwards into engagement with the edges of the aperture in the striking- plate 43.
