Abstract

1524. Whitfield, G., and Johnson, C. Jan. 20. Folding berths.-A folding ship's berth &c., in which the bottom or mattress portion is hinged along one side, is supported in the horizontal position by a jointed stay retained extended by a slotted strut engaging a stud on the jointed stay. The berth bottom 1 is shown held horizontal by the engagement of the bent end of the slot 9, in the pivoted strut 7, with a headed stud 8 on the jointed stay 4. A handle 11 is provided to facilitate the release of the strut 7.
